There was lots excitement at Mullingar Train Station this morning as supporters and the local Special Olympics teams met ahead of their journey to Dublin for the national games.

Families, friends, teachers, other club members and volunteers were there to send them off with a rousing cheer.

Members of the Shoot ‘N’ Stars and Galaxy clubs are taking part in the Special Olympics Ireland Games in Dublin from today, Thursday June 14, to Sunday, 17.

The clubs are participating in swimming, soccer, badminton, basketball, golf and pitch ‘n’ putt.

The Shoot ‘N’ Stars team have 18 athletes and five coaches, while the Galaxy Club have nine athletes.
