Picnic in the Park is back for 2018

Following the success of the inaugural Picnic in the Park in 2017, the newly formed Mullingar Town Park Community Forum is organising it again this year.

It is taking place in Mullingar Town Park on Sunday August 19 from noon to 6pm.

The Mullingar Town Park Community Forum has been brought together by Westmeath County Council to assist in the management and development of Mullingar Town Park.

The Picnic in the Park event this year will showcase all the town has to offer, including food producers, the rich musical talent, arts and heritage and the emergency services.

 

Events on the day will include:

• Food Fair with Westmeath Food Network;

• Live Music Stage showcasing local musical talent;

• ‘The Big Dig’ with the School of Irish Archaeology;

• Arts and heritage displays;

• Civil Defence displays;

• Creative Ireland Arts and Libraries Marquee, including children’s arts and crafts, face painting and more;

• Richie Clarke live wood carving;

• Bugs and Beasties Nature Table and Stories;

• Children’s entertainment and more.

The food fair starts from 11am, entertainment and displays are from noon and music is from 1pm (the event finishes at 6pm).

The Music Stage is to feature: Lir Ukulele Band; Megan Bates; Cronin; Michaela Hogg; Bobby and the Blunts; Distant Sons; and more acts, to be announced.
