Martin Hanley, Principal, Edmundstown National School, Killucan, Co Westmeath was among those who attended the launch by Baker Security and Networks (BSN) of the Google Jamboard - a new product, aimed at the educational and corporate sector, which is essentially the World's first whiteboard in the cloud.

BSN also officially announced 20 new jobs that the company require over the next two years, primarily in technology roles with some marketing and support positions in their headquarters in Dublin.

The Google “Jamboard” is intuitive and easy to use. It utilises touch screen technology on a 55-inch screen which can be linked to any mobile device (tablet, smartphone, iPad) via Bluetooth and a free App, in the classroom or around the world via the internet.

Heralded as the next step in cloud creativity, it is a “digital, collaborative, whiteboard” that allows multiple contributors to interact on screen with all contributions visible “on the same page”.

Jamboard integrates with G Suite, putting popular Google apps and a whole host of interactive capabilities at users’ fingertips during a “jam” session. They can draw, annotate, import and scribble on images and Google Docs, search the web, communicate with colleagues via Hangouts, and it’s all saved in the cloud. Users can sketch out plans in real time with teammates from across the globe via other Jamboards or the mobile and tablet apps.

As well as being able to draw and write on the board, it uses handwriting recognition to transfer handwriting to text if required. It also allows video, graphics and any other files from the cloud to be used together with text or notes interactively on the board.
