Shane shows how to hit your targets

Shane Bisgood (above) gives his clients simple, highly effective methods so that they will know how to hit their targets.

That sounds like lessons for life – and, indeed, Shane has many of those to share too – but his focus is on shooting.

An instructor for the last 42 years, Shane started shooting at an early age and was soon practising as a countryman and as a serious competitor.

A friend of his grandfather taught the young Shane, and a few years later he trained with the renowned Holland & Holland Shooting School in Northwood, London.

Shane went on to establish his own shooting school in Ireland, and, as his services were sought by people further afield, he began teaching in the USA, ending up with 11 locations there.

He has taught in Mexico and several European countries including the UK and Denmark. People from all around the world now come to The Connemara Shooting School at Ballynahinch Castle.

Teaching has been one of the greatest loves of Shane’s life and people who had never touched a gun as well as those intent on competing at the highest level are his clients. They include ladies and gentlemen, the famous and the not so famous, each one a treasured client.

Shane has now written a book (The Complete Shot) filled with advice on how to shoot a shotgun, techniques, data, laws pertaining to the sport, maintenance of firearms, choice of firearms and ammunition, anecdotes to illustrate methods and amuse the reader, and where to and what to buy to be part of this world. A lifetime spent watching others participate in a sport is possibly how some people would see an instructor, but so much of what Shane does is to get people to understand their thought processes and couple that with the physical side of shooting a shotgun.

He learned from his own pursuit in competition and his success and methods have been things he has wanted to share with his clients.

Whatever people’s goals are, Shane and his book will give them a simple understanding of methods and how to employ those. If his clients have problems, they will find solutions within the pages of The Complete Shot.

It includes anecdotes from Shane’s life as an instructor, such as those about the characters who have asked him for help, and the celebrity client who turned to fellow human, smiling with achievement.

It is a book to remind those of methods already learned and a means for those who haven’t spent time with Shane to receive his advice too.

This, in Shane’s words, is a career that ends daily with broad smiles on clients’ face. He gives them simple but highly effective methods in order that they will know how to hit their targets.
