Mullingar Golf Club: Julie takes 18-hole stableford honours

Julie Magan (25) made it a week to remember winning the Newbrook Tyres sponsored 18-hole stableford competition with a fine 38 points.

Julie had also been on the winning team two days earlier at the ILGU Mid-Leinster Branch celebrations held in Mullingar GC. Congratulations Julie.

Fiona Burke (9) out scored her rivals to claim the gross this week with 26 gross points. Class winners were Helen Moorhead (18) with 34 points, Jill Hegarty (26) with 34 points and Moira Roe (42) with 35 points.

Julie Delahunty Moore (18) was the leading senior over 18 holes with Josephine Purcell (28) the days super senior with 30 points.

Ann Lordan (47) won the 9-hole competition with 20 points. Siobhan Keogh won the senior 9.

The final major of the year, The Lighting Showrooms Hamper, was scheduled for October 4th however the weather unfortunately caused the postponement of this final Major which will now be scheduled for another date.

Sunday Competition, September 27

Last week the competition was kindly sponsored by Cassidy’s Hotel.

Played in beautiful autumn weather this event attracted a very large turnout with no spare space on the time sheet. With over 140 entrants this was a very popular event and many thanks to our sponsor Cassidy’s Hotel for their generous support.

Playing some excellent and steady golf Benny O’Dowd (18) emerged as winner with 40 points.

The Gross winner was David Keenaghan (3) with 37 points. Cat 1 winner was Josh Swarbrigg (2) with 38 points, Cat 2 Frank McDonagh (14) with 37 points and Cat 3 winner was Paul Isdell (21) with 40 points.

The junior winner was Matthew Cassidy (6) with 35 points while the Senior winner was Brendan Smyth (21) with 38 points.

Niall O’Dowd (20)won the prize for summer membership members with 44 points. The ladies 9 hole competition was won by Jackie Mills with 22 points while Mary Gillen had 18 points.

Senior men, Tuesday September 29

The weekly senior mens’s competition continues to enjoy a healthy entry. The winners this week were Eamon Keegan with 22 points from Peter Swords, 21 minus 1, with Pat Dromey third.

The super senior prize was won by Ted Eighan with 19 points.

The draw on the returned cards was won by Marius Gavin. The competition continues this week while the hampers will start towards the end of the month.
