Tiger out of Aintree 2021

The three-in-a-row bid for an Aintree Grand National by Tiger Roll is off the cards after Gigginstown House Stud announced today that the 11-year-old will not run there this year.

The Gordon Elliott-trained Tiger Roll became the first horse since Red Rum in 1973 and 1974 to win the race back in 2018 and 2019.

The 2020 race did not take place because of Covid-19 and last week it was announced that Tiger Roll would have 11-9 for the 2021 race.

Tiger Roll was given a mark of 166 when the weights were officially unveiled and today Gigginstown confirmed that the Tiger will not be running at Aintree due to what the owners feel is a “patently unfair” rating.
