Closing date for N4 submissions is this week

The closing date for submissions on the proposed upgrade of the N4 between Mullingar and Longford is this week – Friday March 19.

The county councils in Westmeath and Longford, supported by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), have invited residents of the area, members of the public and interested parties to participate in a public consultation on the route corridor options.

The public consultation format has been adapted to ensure compliance with Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions and details and information in relation to the route corridor options are being made available online through a virtual public consultation experience.

Among the interested parties is a group concerned about the future of Rathaspick Cemetery. A spokesperson said they wanted to inform families with loved ones interred in Rathaspick Cemetery that Option 7 – Maroon, planned route, is adjacent to the cemetery, “which will seriously alter the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings”.

The spokesperson said that anyone who has a family member or friend interred, is now invited to submit concerns in writing to:

ROD - AECOM, Unit 23C, Lough Sheever Corporate Park, Robinstown, Mullingar, County Westmeath; info@n4mullingartolongford.ie; or via the website – n4mullingartolongford.ie.

• See n4mullingartolongford.ie for more on the route options and the consultation process.
