Former Offaly football manager appointed school principal

Former Offaly football manager Emmet McDonnell has been appointed school principal in St Mary's Edenderry, succeeding Rob Halford who held the position since 2012.

The Westmeath native, who is a current selector with the Kildare footballers, famously guided the school to a historic Hogan Cup All Ireland success back in 2012.

A native of Kinnegad, McDonnell also had a stint as Offaly manager from 2012-2014 and managed Westmeath's U21 footballers in 2015.

He most recently managed Tyrrellspass in Westmeath.
