Weather Update

It's set to be a humid day with showers in the mix, according to the latest weather bulletin from Met Éireann.

The national weather forecaster is signalling mixed weather with showers and sunny spells for the weekend, becoming more settled with temperatures increasing.

A dry start for much of the country this morning with sunny spells. However, showers will develop in the northwest followed by rain, gradually sinking southwards across the country through the day, persistent and heavy at times in the northwest. Becoming patchier as it moves southwards with some southern areas holding dry until evening. Warm and humid in the south and east with highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees, but cooler in the west and northwest with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in moderate westerly winds, fresh at times on western and northern coasts.

Tonight, rain over the southern half of the country will continue to clear southwards as drier conditions along with some well scattered showers follow in from the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong on northern and northwestern coasts.

Tomorrow (Friday) will be a cool, fresh and mostly cloudy day with showery rain along eastern coastal counties. Mainly dry elsewhere with just isolated showers. Highest temperatures of just 13 to 17 degrees. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong on exposed coasts, will ease mainly light to moderate during the day.

Showery rain will continue for a time on Friday night in the east and southeast. Staying mostly dry elsewhere with clear spells and the odd stay shower. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.

Saturday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Scattered showers will develop but becoming largely dry and sunny by the evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light to moderate northeasterly breezes, fresher on southeastern coasts.

A dry night is expected on Saturday with mainly clear skies. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in mainly light northerly breezes.

Sunday should be largely dry with some good sunshine though there is the chance of some well scattered showers developing. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees generally in light to moderate northerly breezes.

A largely dry night again on Sunday with mostly clear skies with isolated showers in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. Mist and hill fog will develop in light northerly or variable breezes.

Monday will feature good sunny spells and mostly dry though there is the continued chance of some showers in the south of the country. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, cooler in the north and northwest in mainly light northerly breezes.

Further Outlook: Some uncertainty in the forecast but current indications are for mostly dry and settled conditions though there is a slight risk of heavy showers moving up from the southeast. Continuing warm and humid though with daytime highs in the low to mid-twenties with mild nights.
