Ballymahon's Maura brings glitz and glamour to RTE screens!

With over three million followers on Instagram and a million more on Tik Tok, Ireland’s favourite Love island celebrity and Ballymahon native, Maura Higgins, is sure to bring more than a touch of glitz and glamour to our TV screens when she fronts a new reality make up show called 'Glow Up Ireland.'

The first of eight episodes begin on RTE 2 at 9.35pm tomorrow night (Thursday, September 2) with subsequent episodes being aired every Thursday night, and promising lots of “pout, pose, sparkle, shimmer and shine!”

Ten amateur make-up artists have been chosen to take part in 'Glow Up Ireland' with one of them being crowned Ireland’s Next Make-Up Star and getting an amazing chance to further their professional career.

The show, which is based on an established format first produced by the BBC and now hugely popular all around the world, promises to be much more than a mere make-up show. “It’s art, it’s time to….Glow Up,” says the production company, Indiepics.

Maura Higgins, who is no stranger to TV, was chosen to present 'Glow Up Ireland' as she is currently one of the most instantly recognisable faces on the international celebrity scene. The outspoken Ballymahon model and influencer has taken the world by storm since her appearance on Love Island in 2019, and has partnered with numerous iconic make-up and clothing brands since then. She also has her own clothing and tanning range and is a brand ambassador for a number of make-up and clothing brands.

The two judges putting the ten make-up artists through their paces will be industry professionals, Cathyanne MacAllister and Emma O’Byrne, who have over 35 years of experience working with massive design houses including Christian Dior, Givenchy and Dolce and Gabbana.

Maura Higgins fronted her own one-off show called 'Maura Higgins: Your’re Joking Me!' and other credits to her name include an appearance on the 2019 series of 'Dancing on Ice' as well as a hosting role on 'This Morning'. She has also hosted the red carpet for the National Television Awards in the UK, starred as a panellist on ITV2’s “Celebrity Juice” ITV2’s “Love Island; Aftersun” and BBC2’s “I’ll Get This Christmas Special.”
