Millie Walsh (left). and Gerry Buckley

Double birthday celebrations

Two well-known Mullingar men both celebrated significant birthdays yesterday, Thursday September 9.

Millie Walsh (left), Maxol service station proprietor, turned 70, and Gerry Buckley, Westmeath Examiner sports columnist, turned 65.

It seems that both of them intend to keep on working for another while!

Also, Millie has the 1951 All-Ireland senior football programme on display in the shop today and over the weekend.

That was Mayo’s last win and they have a decent chance tomorrow against Tyrone of ending the 70-year hoodoo.
