Doing local history research: how to use maps better

Paul Gosling will deliver the final lecture in Westmeath Archaeological and Historical Society’s Doing Local History series on Wednesday November 3 at 8pm.

Supported by Creative Ireland, this final lecture examines how the local historian can use maps more effectively to describe and analyse the evolution of local areas with a particular focus on Westmeath.

Dr Gosling is very familiar with the town and surrounding areas as he had written a paper on the evolution of medieval Mullingar for the forthcoming Westmeath History and Society publication, which will be launched shortly after Christmas.

The lecture is free to view on the Zoom platform and the link is available on the website, whahs.ie.
