Glenveagh Homes has applied for planning to build new houses on this site in Mullingar.

Decision on Mullingar housing estate due later this week

The company behind plans to build 98 homes at Rathgowan, Mullingar will find out later this week whether their application has been given the green light by Westmeath County Council.

The application by Glenveagh Homes includes details for the construction of 98 houses, a childcare facility and a pumping station, as well as a shared cycle and pedestrian path running along the site’s southern, western and northern boundary, footpaths, parking, landscaping and amenity areas. Access to the development is to be from an existing entrance on the C-Link.

The application has been the subject of a number of submissions from residents in the adjacent Ashfield estate, who have have raised concerns about a number of issues, including the density of the proposed development and the potential rise of anti-social behaviour following its construction.

The decision due date for the application is this Saturday, February 6.
