Two men victims of unrelated assaults in Mullingar

Two assaulted

Two young men were the victims of assaults in two unrelated incidents in Mullingar in the last week, according to Mullingar gardaí. In the first, on Thursday last, February 24, at Pearse Street at 2.30pm, a man aged found 20 received minor injuries when he was attacked. A person is currently assisting the gardaí with their enquiries.

The second alleged assault was on Sunday at Patrick Street at around noon. An ambulance was called after a man claimed he was assaulted by “a number of people”. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Dashcam footage sought

Dashcam or other footage that may throw light in an incident near Kinnegad on Saturday evening is being sought by gardaí. A motorist suffered a broken windscreen at around 9pm. The motorist is of the belief that something was thrown from a bridge, and he reported the incident to gardaí, who are now investigating the matter.

Public order

Nine arrests were made for public order breaches in the last week, eight in Mullingar and one in Castlepollard. Most of the arrests were for drunkenness.

Drink drivers

Two motorists were arrested locally for drink driving in the last week,one in Mullingar and one in Killucan.
