Coláiste Mhuire holding Climb With Charlie walk on the Hill of Uisneach

Coláiste Mhuire is holding a Climb With Charlie walk on the Hill of Uisneach tomorrow for students, staff and their families.

Organised by teachers Siobhan Farry and Grainne Byrne, the guided walk starts at 11am and is one of over 200 climbs taking place across the country.

Ms Farry says that she and Ms Byrne decided to organise the walk, which will raise funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta, after being moved by former RTÉ reporter Charlie Bird's interview on the Late Late Show in December. She said that the respected journalist's resilience in the face of adversity is a great example to both young and older people.

“Charlie is truly inspirational and the Climb With Charlie initiative has captured the nation's imagination. As a school community we wanted to play our part and what better place to do it than on one of Westmeath's most magical sites, the Hill of Uisneach,” she said.

Due to limited parking the walk is being confined to students, staff and parents. However, people can donate here.
