Iconic local pub changes hands
Mary Lynch's, the iconic public house and restaurant located just off the N4 at Coralstown, has recently been sold by the proprietors John and Mary Moriarty.
The premises, which is currently closed, will be refurbished in the coming months and will reopen in mid-2022 as a canal side gastro pub and guesthouse. This is part of the expansion of leisure and hospitality group DSH Holdings run by local businessmen Declan Murphy, Hugh Farrell and Shane Clifford.
Commenting on the disposal of the premises John Moriarty said: “Myself and my wife Mary have traded here for almost 36 years since 1986 when this was the main Dublin-Sligo road that now backs on to the N4 dual carriageway.
"We have enjoyed being beside the Royal Canal and Dublin-Sligo Railway line and living in the superb community of Coralstown, Kinnegad and Mullingar during these years. We have had a fantastic time here and thank all our local and regional patrons for their support over the years.
"As our lives move on to what we hope will be a more relaxed phase, we wish Declan Murphy and Hugh Farrell and Shane Clifford the very best with their plans for this premises and location. We are very excited by their plans for this premises and are delighted to hand this over to proven operators who understand and operate in this business at the highest level.”
Both parties thanked John Geoghegan of Landcorp Private for facilitating this transaction.
DSH Holdings’ portfolio includes Bonobo in Smithfield Dublin, Impala in Cork and Caribou, Galway, as well as the soon to open Smyths in Navan.
