The death has occurred of

Seamus (Sheamie) Brennan

Society Street, Ballinasloe, Galway / Athlone, Westmeath

ormerly of Northgate Street, Athlone. Sheamie passed away peacefully, in the care of the staff of Portiuncula University Hospital, on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Predeceased by his mother Helena (Lena) (née Russell) and father James.

Sheamie will be sadly missed by his son Brian and Brian’s mother Geraldine, his brothers David, Denis and Sean, his sisters Jean, Maria and Sharon, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

Sheamie will repose in Grenham's Funeral Home, Ballinasloe on Wednesday, April 29, from 5pm to 7pm, with removal afterwards to St Michael’s Church, Ballinasloe. Sheamie's Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday at 12 noon. A private family service will take place in Shannon Crematorium on Friday.

Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to Portiuncula University Hospital, in appreciation of the care received.

Sheamie's family would like to thank everybody for their support and prayers at this difficult time.

May McDermott (née Tackaberry)

Parsonstown, Knockdrin, Mullingar, Westmeath

May, peacefully at the Regional Hospital Mullingar, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband George, son Devril and daughters Georgina and Delores. Sadly missed by her loving sons Daragh and Sean, daughters-in-law Geraldine and Roberta, grandchildren Milo and Raya, sisters Sheila and Miriam, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Darby's Funeral Home, Main Street, Kinnegad, on Wednesday, April 29, from 4:30pm with removal at 6pm to arrive at the Church of the Assumption, Taghmon, for 7pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 30, at 11am. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

The death has occurred of

Fergus Carey

Newtown Abbey, Trim, Meath and formerly Sion Hill, Killucan, Westmeath, April 25, 2026, peacefully at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.

Predeceased by his son Francis, parents and siblings.

Fergus will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife Sharon, daughter Jacqui, grandchildren Eileen, Anna and Cillian.

He will also be sadly missed by his brother Camillus, mother-in-law Colette, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and a wide circle of friends, especially his friend and walking companion Jimmy.

May Fergus rest in peace.

Reposing at his home 3 The Arches, Newtown Abbey, Trim on Tuesday from 4pm – 7.30pm.

House Strictly Private at all other times. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St Patrick’s Church, Trim, with burial afterwards in Loganstown Burial Ground, Trim.

The death has occurred of

Sheila O'Dwyer (née Cassidy)

Westmeath, Sligo, Dublin, Oxfordshire, who passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, in The Homestead Care Home in Oxfordshire.

Beloved daughter of the late Jack and Eileen Cassidy, sister to the late Moyà Farrelly, Kevin Cassidy and PJ Cassidy, dearly beloved wife of John O’Dwyer, loving mother to John William, Tara and Detta, and grandmother to Anna and Edward. Dreadfully missed and remembered by all of her loving family, including her two sons-in-law Nick and Gregory, beloved nieces and nephews from the Farrelly and Cassidy families, and friends and neighbours in Witney, Oxfordshire.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing in Massey Bros. Funeral Home, 88A New Cabra Road, Cabra on Thursday, April 30, from 5pm - 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, May 1, at 11am in St Francis Xavier Church, Gardiner Street, followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.
