Killucan rail station.

Meeting on Killucan station being arranged

Arrangements are being finalised for an April meeting of Westmeath County Council and Irish Rail regarding the re-opening of Killucan railway station.

That was announced at the monthly meeting of Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District in reply to a query tabled by Cllr Denis Leonard.

Bridge to College Street

In reply to a second query tabled by Cllr Leonard, it was stated that a vehicular bridge across the Royal Canal to take traffic from College Street, Mullingar, to the roundabout at the Fairgreen and out of town, will be examined as part of the Mullingar Area Based Transport Assessment.

Collinstown streetlight

Finally, Cllr Leonard called for a streetlight in Collinstown at the corner turning off the main Mullingar Road towards Iralco/Decotec. He was told the council cannot extend public lighting until it has finished putting in LED energy saving lanterns and repairing the wiring system.

When that is done, extensions to the network can be considered, and in the meantime, new lights are installed under the Clar, Town and Village Renewal and Outdoor Recreation schemes.
