Fusion Fest Mullingar 2022: lineup confirmed
“We really look forward to showcasing the best of Westmeath talent in all its forms,” says Fiona MacGinty organiser of Fusion Fest Mullingar 2022.
Describing it as a homespun family festival, Fiona said it is being held in conjunction with the Railway Market Mullingar, on Saturday May 21.
“As promised, there will be music in the air and lots of colourful art to view in our pop-up festival gazebos, and now there will be local food vendors from the Railway Market, and more besides.
“Honestly, it’s a chance for us all to get out of our rusty ways of being after two years of the pandemic and enjoy being together in a party atmosphere, safely.”
Lucy Tormey, who has led the Pettiswood Artmakers for a number of years, is thrilled that the many talented artists under her tuition will have a chance to shine. “Art needs to be seen and experienced,” she said. “I am so proud of the Artmakers and what they have achieved – this is their big day out, a celebration of their work and energy.
“I can’t wait to display their work in a public arena and for their talents to be recognised.”
Kim Magee, director of Mullingar Town Band, plans to give an open air drumming workshop on the day and is encouraging everyone to take part and make some rhythmic noise! She says there will be a few tunes from the band as well.
“People around the town will definitely hear us and hopefully they’ll be curious enough to head down to our venue at the Town Band Hall,” said Kim.
“They’ll be tempted by the Railway Market yummies on display and can have a picnic at Fusion, while being serenaded by our buskers, surrounded by gorgeous art!”
Fiona says that many people from across Westmeath will be taking part in Fusion. “We have world class Irish dancers, lots of young up and coming young musicians and not so young musicians. We will have main stage events throughout the day while fringe events and exhibitions will occur in our tents and gazebos.
“We have a Festival Fairy who will be asking young attendees to help her decorate her gazebo with some magic and she will show them how to create art from nature.

Fusion Fest a free event that starts at noon on Saturday May 21 and runs till 5pm at the Bandhall (near Blackhall car park). There will be food at the Railway Market; a picnic area and seating; and toilet facilities.
