Ramblin’ Home has some work done ahead of Float to the Fleadh

Ramblin’ Home has been in the dry dock at Mullingar Harbour for a few days this week to get routine maintenance carried out.

Owner Kevin Dunne travelled from Dublin for Float to the Fleadh, “which we’re looking forward to”.

“It should good week and it’s great to see so many boats using the canal. Waterways Ireland have been great in helping with water levels and assisting people with locks getting here.

“We took the opportunity to get some maintenance done here at the dry dock, to get the hull painted, and some other work done.

“The lock keeper let us in here on Tuesday and we’re out again on Friday.”

Members of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland (IWAI) Royal Canal Branch committee were meeting in Mullingar on Wednesday evening as part of their preparation for Float to the Fleadh (from left) Denis Baker, chairperson; Judith Hearne, treasurer; Mick Kinahan, membership officer; and John Banim, secretary.
