Gardaí report quiet weekend

Gardaí are pleased with how the first few days of the Fleadh Cheoil have gone, a spokesperson at the station in Mullingar has confirmed.

"So far, so good, there have been very few incidents. The traffic plan is working and the vibe was good yesterday (on Sunday, the opening day of the fleadh)."

"People are in good form, and our officers have been engaging with them and chatting to people across the town."

The spokesperson said there is a policing plan in place and it is working: "If it continues like that, we will be pleased (with the outcome). We would ask people to follow the direction signs, and the directions of the volunteer stewards and the gardaí."
