Tidy Towns thanks following Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Editor,

As chairman of Mullingar Tidy Towns, I would like to thank the numerous individuals and groups that helped to keep our town so clean for the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

I would like to thank Mullingar Tidy Towns, the TUS workers and the CE workers and volunteers who worked hard ahead of the fleadh for a substantial amount of time. They worked in conjunction with the Fleadh Cheoil committee and Westmeath County Council and Mullingar Chamber of Commerce preparing for such a significant event for 2022.

I wish to express gratitude to the workers and volunteers whom dedicated a lot of time and skill in making Mullingar town look inviting and exquisite.

I want to acknowledge the many businesses for the preparation of both the interiors and exteriors of their premises. This recognition also goes to the residents of Mullingar as their dedication did not go unnoticed.

The impression that we left for the large numbers of people from near and far whom attended the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2022 is an inviting and a positive atmosphere that ripples through the town of Mullingar.

The people of Mullingar can take great pride as it was a tremendous outcome for all the planning, enthusiasm and dedication both previous to and during the festival. This is a demonstration of what people working together can achieve.

Even though the Fleadh Cheoil was held from July 31 to August 7, the appearance of the town, thanks to the flower displays and streetscaping, will have a lasting impression.

This did not go unnoticed and numerous attendees complimented the appearance of the town. This reassures us that people most likely will return to Mullingar on their travels again.

Our town deserves to be applauded for the success of the fleadh and for how the town looked so magnificent for our visitors and competitors. It has added significant value to the history and current progression of musical success in Mullingar.

Let us as, a town and community, strive to maintain the clean and appealing atmosphere Mullingar has to offer.

To conclude it would be great to host the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Mullingar again in 2023.

Yours,

Cllr Bill Collentine,

Mullingar,

Chairman, Mullingar Tidy Towns.
