Sibhialta Atá Mé, an exhibition of Civil War photos, launched

Sibhialta Atá Mé, Civil I Am, an exhibition of Irish Civil War photos running at Mullingar Library until October 17, was launched last night at the library.

Minister Catherine Martin, TD, was present for the launch at Mullingar Library yesterday, Tuesday, evening.

The show is also at the library in Castlepollard, and in Athlone Library from October 24 to November 2.

It includes more than 40 images from the Irish Civil War, and offers a visual insight into an important time in Irish history.

Damien Quinn curated the project and the Westmeath resident historian Ian Kenneally provided an overview of the exhibition and the stories behind the photos on Tuesday evening.

Soundscape (which is accessible with headphones and a smartphone) is by Donncha Walsh, and layout design is by Mattie Hynes.

The exhibition is part of the Decade of Centenaries events.
