Derravaragh Music Association host SOLAS Quartet at Tullynally Castle

The Derravaragh Music Association are hosting a concert on November 12 at Tullynally Castle.

The concert will be given by the SOLAS Quartet with the addition of Ed Creedon on viola, playing music by Boccherini, Kinsella, Amy Beach, Dowland and featuring Mendelssohn String Quintet in B flat.

The SOLAS Quartet is led by Katherine Hunka, leader of the Irish Chamber orchestra, teacher on the MA in Classical Strings programme at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, which is operated jointly by Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Academy.

Katherine is a professor at the CIT Cork School of Music and has been a visiting professor at Indiana University, USA. Audiences love her warmth and engaging performances and Derravaragh Music Association are delighted to welcome her back.

The varied programme spas six centuries and reflects the wide-ranging musical talents and specialties of the quartet. For the second half of the concert, Cork violist Ed Creedon joins them for Mendelssohn’s brilliant B flat string quintet.

The concert starts at 7pm; doors open at 6.15pm; and tickets are €30 (U18s €12) and from eventbrite.ie.
