'We keep saying that it's going to be an amazing Christmas'

A Westmeath man and his family have collected the €500,000 prize won in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday, November 22, with a Quick Pick ticket purchased Tuthill’s newsagents in the Golden Island Shopping Centre in Athlone town.

Discussing his plans for his win, the Westmeath native said: “I’m still in a state of shock to be honest, the whole family are. It feels more real seeing the cheque worth a half million euro sitting in front of me. The one thing that we keep saying is that it’s going to be an amazing Christmas.

"We’ll have a nice break for the holidays, and we’ll get some proper spending plans in place after that. We have some bills to pay off such as the mortgage and after that, we might start looking at doing some work on the house. We’ll have to make a few decisions for sure but it’s an amazing position to be in, to be able to do that.”
