Submissions now welcome for Africa Day events in Westmeath

Africa Day, the annual celebration of the continent’s cultures and people, falls on May 25 each year.

Irish Aid at the Department of Foreign Affairs is partnering with Westmeath County Council to organise events aimed at marking this special and unique day.

Last year, groups across Westmeath hosted a number of Africa Day events – and this year, Westmeath County Council hope that Africa Day 2023 will be even bigger!

"We are once again pleased to provide financial support to organise events for Africa Day, aimed at celebrating African cultures and the links between Ireland and Africa," said a spokesperson for the local authority.

If you wish to organise an Africa Day event or series of events with support from Irish Aid and Westmeath County Council, please contact Westmeath County Council, Community Development Section on 044 9332051 to request an application form or you can visit the Westmeath County Council website at https://www.westmeathcoco.ie/en/ourservices/communitydevelopment/communitygrants/ to download an application.

Completed application forms must be returned by 5pm on Tuesday February 14.
