Loreto students mark St Brigid's Day by making crosses at Cathedral

Clodagh McGlynn

A group of Transition Year students from Loreto College Mullingar attended Mass in the Cathedral of Christ the King and made St Brigid’s crosses with local parishioners to celebrate St Brigid’s day.

The students went to Mass in the morning and then to the Parish Community Centre, and spent time with the parishioners making the crosses out of rushes.

The crosses were then blessed by Fr Barry White.

They shared tea with some of the parishioners and gave them some of the crosses, leaving the rest at the cathedral for people to take home.

“Both the girls and the members of the community thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” says Catherine Gallagher, TY coordinator in Loreto College.
