Something’s Cooking in the Kitchen, demos are ongoing; come along and try out a new dish.

Chime Hearing Aid Clinic on February 24, the first one of the year 2023. Chime is a beneficial, free hearing-aid service, open to all people of all ages who have hearing aids. Servicing; small repairs; spare parts advice as well as supply of batteries. This is a free service regardless of whether the hearing aids are HSE provided or privately bought. There is a small charge of €2 per pack of batteries. Please book at the club 044 9384290.

SAS Monitored Alarms are available and we would recommend them. They are free to anyone over 65 and the first year of monitoring is also free (there is a fee for sim card service in GSM and digital models). The application process is simple and installation time is less than two weeks. They are great peace of mind for you and your family. Call us on 044 9384290 if you want to know more about them or make an application.

Beware of scam calls and fake house callers. Scam calls and messages haven’t gone away – they are just getting more sophisticated. Banks, tax office, HSE, revenue, garda, Amazon will not text you or call you and ask you for passwords or pin numbers. Be wary when answering calls pertaining to your bank or other institution, even if the number looks familiar. If you receive a call or text and have a suspicion that it is a scam, do not press any links or numbers or call back. Never give your personal details over the phone.

We recommend that you hang up and ring the number of the service in question by looking up the correct number from your own records to enquire if their staff was contacting you.

Fake door-to-door callers may come calling you. Be vigilant and never let them gain access to your home unless you are certain of who they are. Do not feel bad for closing your door while you need to check out their ID. Beware of leaving your door open at any time.

Madeleine Buckley is the Bonus Ball winner; congratulations Madeleine. Thank you for your support.
