€8.4m cocaine seizure suspects before Mullingar Circuit Court today

Two men charged in connection with the transportation of €8.4m worth of cocaine are due to reappear at Mullingar Circuit Court at later dates under new legal counsel.

Michal Luczak, of Primrose Avenue, Jigginstown, Naas, Kildare, and Tim Gilchrist Jnr, of Mavis Bank, Newrath, Waterford, were both before Judge Keenan Johnson this morning, facing charges of transporting €8.4m worth of cocaine via a private aircraft into Abbeyshrule Airport last summer.

Mr Luczak's legal team officially came off the record this morning and the accused requested his case be adjourned to a later date so that he could find new representation. He has been remanded on continuing bail until July 4, 2023.

Mr Gilchrist, who was in custody, is also arranging legal representation. He will reappear on March 30, before the current sittings of Mullingar District Court.
