Local Darkness Into Light events

A Darkness Into Light fundraising event for Pieta House is taking place in Mullingar on Saturday May 6 from the St Loman’s GAA grounds. The route goes to Mullingar Town Park (in Millmount Road and out Austin Friars Street) and back to St Loman’s GAA grounds.

As this year’s walk was late to register it will not be listed as an official one on the website – however, people are encouraged to donate the registration fee at darknessintolight.ie/donate, and purchase merchandise at pieta-house.myshopify.com. The walk is organised by Mullingar Chamber of Commerce and Mullingar Tidy Towns and supported by Mullingar gardaí, Westmeath Civil Defence and Mullingar Community First Responders.

Darkness Into Light also takes place in Ballymore on Saturday at 3.45am, to start at 4.15am from High St to The Lake and GAA Grounds, and back to High Street. Refreshments in Cunningham’s Pub after.

Aisling Coleman, manager of Mullingar Chamber of Commerce, said: "We felt it was important that Mullingar held a Darkness into Light Walk in 2023.

"The walk is a powerful show of hope and support for anyone contemplating or affected by suicide. We are a new committee this year and we hope to bring something different to this year’s DIL Walk."

The committee have created a Spotify Playlist – find it by searching Darkness Into Light Mullingar or click here.
