Moate youngster wins scholarship with ‘Dance Moms’ show personality

The owner of a local dance school has said she is "beyond proud" after her student Abby Evans recently won a scholarship with Abby Lee Miller from TV’s ‘Dance Moms’.

Leinster School of Dance (LSOD) student Abby completed an audition workshop in the Maldron Hotel, Tallaght on Thursday, May 18 along with 21 other students from LSOD and fellow dance schools in the region. Amazingly, she managed to impress Abby Lee enough to be chosen for prestigious dance lessons.

Owner of LSOD based in Moate, Shauna Coffey, said: “I was beyond proud of Abby, she is a star in the making. I was really proud of all of my amazing students who took part in the event.”

“They all got to meet Abby Lee and get the experience of the workshop.

Speaking about her young student's reaction to winning the scholarship, Shauna said: “She was so overwhelmed with emotion. She was in shock. She couldn't believe it.”

Abby has been dancing with LSOD for the past three years. Shauna taught a workshop in leaps and pirouettes at Perform, a performing arts festival, which took place in the SEC, Glasgow recently alongside former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt.

LSOD will take to the stage in Tuar Ard Moate for their ‘Best of Broadway’ show on Saturday, June 24. Dance Moms is an American reality television series that follows the training and careers of children in dance and show business under Abby Lee's teaching at the Abby Lee Dance Company studios.
