Knights return to Fore

Knights in shining armour returned to Fore last week, as the Knights and Conquests team from Granard visited to perform a specially scripted Norman adventure living history drama and tour with the students and staff of St Féichíns NS.

Fore is the only substantial remains of a Norman Benedictine house in Ireland. It was Hugh de Lacy that had a priory established on the pre-existing site of worship in 1180, as a dependency of the Abbey of St Taurin at Evreux in Normandy, France; one Richard DeTuite of Granard held a retreat quarter at Fore.

Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre is at Rathcronan, Granard, and is open daily for interactive guided tours and tours of Ireland’s highest Motte and Bailey by request.
