MKMD to honour Pride of Place success

Signs are to be erected on the approaches to Mullingar signaling the town’s success in the Pride of Place competition, and an address of recognition is to be presented to those involved.

The proposal that the signs be erected came from Cllr Bill Collentine and the response from the district stated that it will be done following a consultation on sign design.

The mayor of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, Cllr John Shaw, was behind the suggestion that an address of recognition be presented.

Cllr Collentine was delighted at the response to his signs proposal, saying it was a way of expressing thanks to the many local groups and volunteers who helped bring the town its success in this 32-county competition.

Cllr Hazel Smyth was also happy to learn that the signs were to be erected, as were Cllr sAndrew Duncan, Aoife Davitt, Ken Glynn, Frank McDermott and Mick Dollard, who all noted that special thanks were due to Cllr Collentine, who is the chairperson of Mullingar Tidy Towns.
