WATCH: One of the midlands' tallest man-made structures is demolished

The former RTE mast at Ballycommon, which stood to a height of 296 metres or over 970 feet was demolished this morning (Tuesday).

Erected in 1975, the medium wave mast is not thought to have been in use since 2008.
