Birmingham Motors hand over car park to fleadh visitors to raise funds for hospice

Keith Birmingham said this morning (Thursday) that the car park at Birmingham Motors was full to its maximum yesterday, the day before it was half full, and he expects it to be full again in the coming days.

Keith and his family firm have cleared the car park of the vehicles that are usually on display for sale, and are offering the space to fleadh visitors. The fee is €10 for the day’s parking (cash only) and all the proceeds will go to the North Westmeath Hospice.

He said: “The reason we chose the North Westmeath Hospice is that we know they do a great job; they’re all volunteers and they do brilliant work for everyone around the region.”

The car park starts filling up around lunchtime, and it's already busier than it was during last year's fleadh. He plans to keep it open till Monday.

Present this morning to support the Birminghams was Margaret Claffey, chairperson of the North Westmeath Hospice fundraising committee.

Margaret said: I would like to thank Birmingham Motors for selecting the North Westmeath Hospice as their chosen charity during the fleadh this year. The funds raised will help our palliative care team, who deliver such an excellent service here in this area. They look after terminally ill patients in the comfort of their own homes or in selected hospice beds.

"All the funds we raise stay local, for the north Westmeath area."
