‘Tracey’s Sanctuary’– a family’s loving tribute

Pride of Place adjudicators visit Raharney

Poignantly, along one of the boundaries of the Ashcroft Park, what has become known as ‘Tracey’s Sanctuary’ has been developed, in memory of the late Tracy O’Dowd, who lived at that spot but who died just a year ago at the age of 42.

The spot contains a seat and a dazzling display of flowers, all lovingly tended for the benefit of the community by Tracy’s husband Gareth and her sister and brother-in-law Amanda and Leonard Mullen.

Gareth explained to the Pride of Place judges that that corner of the estate is intended now as a quiet spot for anyone who has been bereaved, and who wants to spend some quiet time thinking of their loved one.
