62 new council homes for Mullingar and Castlepollard

Construction on 62 new homes at four sites at Mullingar and Castlepollard is to commence in November. They include 22 at St Bridget’s Green, adjacent to Ashfield in Mullingar; 15 adjacent to Ennell Court, Mullingar; 17 on the Robinstown Road, adjacent to Dalton Park, and eight at Water Street, Castlepollard.

The design and build will be carried out as one project, being delivered under the Housing for All scheme.

The Water Street development is of eight single-storey houses; 14 single-storey houses and eight apartments will be erected at St Bridget’s Green; 15 single-storey houses will be delivered at Ennell Court, and 17 one- and two-bedroom apartments will be built on the Robinstown Road.

Fifty of the homes will be designed to universal design standards and be suitable for older persons. All houses will be designed to nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) standard.

The main contractor is Coolsivna Construction, based in Galway, who won the contract by public competitive tender process. All homes are designed by the council architectural team with McMahon Associates Consulting Engineers, McGahon Surveyors QS and T5 Partnership, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
