Mullingar Camera Club annual exhibition opens next week

The launch of the Mullingar Camera Club annual exhibition for 2023 is at The Atrium, County Buildings, on Tuesday next, November 14 (6-7.30pm), and the exhibition continues till December 8.

Noel Murphy, club chairperson, said: “We are grateful for this excellent opportunity to highlight the collective talent of club members and to present our images to a wide audience, and we wish to thank Westmeath County Council for facilitating us in this regard.”

This year club members were asked to submit their favourite images for the exhibition, and included are a number from new members who have joined this year.

Noel said: “Submitting a photograph for public viewing can be a bit daunting – however, there are some benefits.

“Exhibiting photos brings greater awareness of the photographer’s style, theme, strengths and areas to develop. It gives the photographer the ability to discuss their images with others, and it gives the photographer more confidence to exhibit again.”

The images in this exhibition cover a wide area of subjects which reflect the photographers’ interests.

Each image on exhibit is the final step in a photographic journey that began with deciding what to photograph, planning the taking of the photograph, the actual act of photographing, some post production adjustments, printing on suitable paper, mounting the image, and finally hanging the photo on the wall.

“A lot of thought and effort has gone into producing these images and we hope you the viewer gets as much enjoyment out of them as we the photographers do in making them.

“We also hope that the images on display grab your attention and inspire you to respond physically by making images of your own.”

They meet in Mullingar Arts Centre, twice a month on Wednesdays, 7.30-9pm.
