Kilkenny farmer Drennan confirmed as new ICMSA president

Following the close of nominations this evening, the Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association has confirmed that Denis Drennan from Dunbell, Co Kilkenny, will be its next president, while Eamon Carroll, Templemore, Co Tipperary will be the next deputy president. They will take up their positions following the AGM of the National Council of ICMSA on Monday 18th December. ICMSA is the state’s specialist family dairy farm organisation with some 14,000 members in every county.

Meanwhile, the election count for the new president of the Irish Farmers Association will take place in the Castleknock Hotel, Dublin, on Tuesday next, 12th December.

Francie Gorman and Martin Stapleton are running for president, and Alice Doyle and Pat Murphy are running for deputy president. The victors will take up their positions in January.

Bill O Keeffe has been elected chairman of the IFA Farm Business Committee. He was elected to succeed Rose Mary McDonagh at a meeting of the committee in the Irish Farm Centre yesterday.

A dairy farmer from Co Kilkenny, he previously held the position of vice-chair of the committee.

Laois farmer Declan Hanrahan has been elected chairman of the IFA National Livestock Committee to succeed Brendan Golden.
