Wind warnings in place for Westmeath and Roscommon

Two separate yellow winds warning are in operation for Westmeath and Roscommon for most of tomorrow, Saturday.

Met Éireann issued the warnings this afternoon.

The warning applicable to Westmeath covers from 10am on Saturday to 8pm. The national forecaster predicted there will be strong and gusty west to northwest winds, which it said could cause disruption and travelling difficulties.

This warning covers 14 counties in total, including Westmeath. The others are Carlow, Cavan, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Wexford, and Wicklow

A separate yellow wind warning is in place for Roscommon. It's for an earlier portion of Saturday, and spans from 8am to 6pm.

This warning also covers some coastal areas and Met Éireann said in these counties, the strong and gusty west to northwest winds have the potential for wave overtoppping.

As well as Roscommon, the counties covered by this second wind warning are Clare, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, and Tipperary
