Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club road hurling tournament

Thirty five three-person teams took part in the Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club’s road hurling tournament on St Stephen’s Day. The event started and finished at Doyne’s of Glenidan, and the route was 2.6km.

The winners were Micheal Daly, Eoin Daly and Daire Daly; second were Mick Fitzgerald, James McNally and Stephen Maxwell, representing Kildalkey Hurling Club; and third were Paul Molloy, Cathal Murtagh and Barry O’Donnell. Liam Costello won the ‘hurling ball into the barrel’ prize.

There was also a raffle, and the winners were: Mikey Bartley, Derek Doyne, Aisling Boyle, Philip Reilly, David Burns, Marcus Kennedy, and Martin Kelly. Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club extended gratitude to the following, who donated raffle prizes: Valerie/David Buckley; Pauline/Ciaran Williams; Sharon/David Burns; Sinéad/Martin Williams; and Lorraine/Barry O’Donnell.

The club also thanked everyone whose contributions ensured the smooth running of the tournament, including the sponsors: Doyne’s, Glenidan (Sean and Mary Doyne); KC Sports, Mullingar; the Lough Lene Inn, Collinstown (David and Louise Cunningham); and Bartley’s, Drumcree (Denise Bartley).
