Traffic calming on road into Kinnegad sought

A call to have traffic calming measures and speed signs installed on the Mullingar Road into Kinnegad, has been made by Cllr Denis Leonard.

“There are seven large estates and St Etchen’s, a large primary school,” Cllr Leonard told the executive in his motion, made at the November meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

Adding that the GAA pitch is on the same road, Cllr Leonard described it as being “very much the epicentre” of Kinnegad, estimating that 2,000 people out of the population of 3,000 in Kinnegad live in the seven estates based there, and some vehicles travel at speeds of as much as 80kph while using the road.

By way of response, the district stated that the matter could be examined for future funding in 2024.
