Works sought for Keoltown

A request that the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad include Keoltown, Ballinea in this year’s budget works was made by Cllr Ken Glynn at the most recent meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

The response provided to Cllr Glynn’s request stated that resurfacing works may be considered at Keoltown as part of the 2024 estimates subject to funding.

Cllr Glynn explained that the road in question was a cul-de-sac and he wanted to acknowledge that the district has spent money on portions of it in the past but there is a section on which no money has been spent in – perhaps the last 40 years – he said.

He added that this was the sixth year in a row in which he had requested that works be done.

Cllr Aoife Davitt seconded Cllr Glynn’s call, and support came too from Cllr Denis Leonard, who said he would like an audit done of the cul-de-sacs in the county on the basis that while there could be 16-18 homes on a cul-de-sac, in terms of maintenance, cul-de-sacs were bottom of the list.
