Speeding at Castlepollard

It is “absolutely essential” that measures be put in place to cut speeding levels on one of the approaches in to Castlepollard, Cllr Frank McDermott told colleagues at the February meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

He proposed that the district erect flashing speed lights opposite Tesco at Kingscourt Estate, Castlepollard. By way of response, the executive stated that vehicle activator signage can be considered at that location, subject to funding.

At the same meeting, Cllr McDermott asked that the district provide funding in its estimates to make road L1731-59 at Christianstown, Collinstown safe.

To that, the response was that the location would be examined and considered for future low-cost safety measures, subject to funding.

Cllr McDermott also asked that three depressions on the road Mooretown R195 be repaired, and was told the work would be carried out as part of normal road maintenance.

A further request made by Cllr McDermott was that a low-cost safety measure be considered for the Benison Junction off the R394 Milltown. To that, the response was that a low-cost measure could be considered, subject to funding.
