Mullingar Golf Club notes: ladies branch

The first 18 hole competition for 2024 was on Wednesday 20 March, sponsored by Joli Hair and Beauty. Clear skies graced the course after a series of rainy days. In first place was Fiona O’Riordan (19) on 38 points. In second was Miriam MacManus (26), 37 points. Gross prize winner was Fiona Burke (9) 20gr points.

Category 1 was won by Antoinette Daly (19) with 27 points, category 2 was Julie Delahunty Moore (24) with 32 points, category 3 was Olive Whelehan (26) with 27 points and category 4 was won by Carmel Monaghan (36) with 31 points. Senior prize winner was won by Kay Browne (23) with 31 points. Super senior was Nuala McCaughey with 31 points.

Back 9 winner was Enda Kavanagh (32) with 16 points. The winner of the 9 hole competition was Sylvia Tormey (15) with 20 points. In second was Breda O’Carroll (10) with 18 points.

There were 52 entries for the 18 hole competition and 25 for the 9-hole competition. We would like to encourage lady members to participate in the Wednesday competitions, it’s a great way to focus on your game and also a wonderful social day for all.

The Pharmed Winter League Competition is at the finals stage. Rosemary Whelehan emerged victorious over Siobhan Ruane on the 11th hole and secured her place in the final for the Fleetwoods Flossies who will face Fitzs Foxes captained by Mary Taaffe. Other News

The popular club foursomes begin in April. Cathy Smith and Una Stephens will sponsor the competition again. The timesheet is in the ladies locker room; please put your names up before April 7. The competition is a great opportunity to meet new golfers, make friends and have fun on the course.

Strength and Conditioning

The final strength and conditioning practice is on Saturday morning. David has provided ladies with the details of each class weekly. He has given our ladies a set of excellent workouts that they can continue to do at home.

Short game continues every Saturday at 10.30am.
