Free bulky goods drop-off planned for Westmeath

Westmeath County Council is encouraging residents to clear out unwanted large household items as part of its Bulky Goods Amnesty Day on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The free drop-off event will take place from 9.30am to 3.30pm only, giving householders an opportunity to dispose of bulky goods responsibly and without charge.

For residents in the Mullingar area, collections and drop-offs will be handled through the Mullingar Recycling Centre, located at Mullingar Business Park, N91 X768.

The initiative is designed to provide residents with a convenient way to dispose of larger unwanted items while helping to promote responsible waste management and recycling across the county.

Residents are encouraged to make use of the service during the designated hours on Saturday. The council has stressed that the free service is available only during the specified Amnesty Day period.

Those planning to use the Mullingar facility should ensure they are aware of the arrangements in advance. The event offers an opportunity for households to dispose of bulky goods properly, helping to keep communities cleaner and reduce inappropriate waste disposal.

Further information and booking details are available through Westmeath County Council and the Mullingar Recycling Centre.
