Cullen's men 'Raleigh' superbly to reach darts shield final

Cullen's Bridge Bar side, Mullingar, earned a deserved victory over Clarke's 'B' when the sides met in the semi-final of the Westmeath Darts Shield competition.

Michael Raleigh produced two 140s in the same leg as he powered past Allen Gilgan in the last game to ensure a 10-7 win for Cullen's men, who will take on Bagnall's of Rochfortbridge in the final on Friday in Springfield (Mullingar Shamrocks club house).

Between Raleigh and Declan Ward, they threw some superb darts on the night and that was the big difference between two well matched teams. Michael Raleigh Snr and Jnr teamed up in a father and son doubles act to win and make it 2-0 on the night, 7-4 overall and leave the Bridge Bar just three games away the final. A fine 97 set up by Michael Snr paved the way.

Tom Crowe and Jason Masterson teamed up to win the final game of doubles, with Crowe's double 10 decisive and momentum seemed to be with Clarke's when Killian Kelly won a great game against Sean Ward.

However, Kevin Gilmore got the better of Tom Crowe on double three and it was now 8-6 to Cullen's.

Declan Ward's win over Terry Kelly left them one away and while Davy Gilgan kept it alive, Michael Raleigh found his range quite impressively to secure the win.
