Westmeath student wins again in Texaco Art Competition

A Westmeath student has won a top prize in this year’s 70th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

In the 7–8 year age category, Nicholas Glynn (8), from All Saints' National School, Mullingar, won second prize for his work entitled Lost Little Lambs (Moate Park, Roscommon).

His artwork is described by final adjudicator, Gary Granville, Professor Emeritus of Education at the National College of Art and Design, as one in which “the subjects are beautifully captured in their natural environment.”

No stranger to the competition, Nicholas won Special Merit Awards last year and in 2022.

The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is the longest-running sponsorship in the history of arts in Ireland, with an unbroken history that dates back to the very first competition held in 1955. This year, as has been the case throughout its life, it has been a platform on which young artists from Westmeath and counties throughout Ireland have had their talents recognised and their creativity commended.

Nicholas is pictured with his brother, William (8), mum Jean and brother, Michael (7). The picture was taken at a function to announce the top winners held in Dublin.
