Success for Rathowen’s Adrian Murray in Naas

The Grange Racing Syndicate-owned Calamint won the opening division of the eight-furlong handicap on her first start for Rathowen trainer Adrian Murray at Naas on Monday. Ridden by David Egan, the 33/1 chance asserted from the furlong-pole to win by four and a half lengths from the Peter Cluskey-trained Stormy Jen.

Paul Flynn sent out another winner from his Colehill base as War Thunder landed the 13-furlong apprentice handicap at Sligo on Sunday. Ridden by Robert Whearty, the Old Stock Partnership-owned 5/1 chance led in the back straight but he was headed over a furlong out by the Tom McCourt-trained Glyde Ranger. However, the six-year-old battled back and prevailed by half a length at the line.
