Rochfortbridge shoeboxes ready for Moldova

The Transition Year students from St Joseph’s Secondary School in Rochfortbridge have been working hard in Mary Quirke’s house every week since January.

They have covered 560 shoeboxes, and prepared products to fill 200 boxes. The students have been busy wrapping soap, folding underwear, prepping hats and gloves, sorting crayons, pencils, copies, teddies, small toys and sweets. A lot of work has gone in, but many hands make light work. It has been a joy for Mary Quirke, Rochfortbridge Christmas Shoebox Appeal organiser, to work with these young people, who are very generous with their time.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of the public.

Two hundred shoeboxes are ready for off, filled with essential products and fun items. Every shoebox contains a teddy bear. Donations of small toys or dinky cars would be much appreciated.

On the 22 November last, the lorry containing Rochfortbridge shoeboxes arrived in Mullingar and transported 3,350 shoeboxes to Transnistria, Moldova, the poorest country in Europe. Well done to everyone who made it possible. In total, 171,675 shoeboxes were sent from Ireland.
